Varifocals
Question for you other four eyed cunts....

Anyone use varifocals? Picked mine up Saturday and although I have read it can take people days or even weeks to train the brain/eyes to use them properly I am STRUGGLING.

Feels like I'm permanently dizzy and pissed.

I DON'T LIKE THEM.

I have an option that if I don't get on with them then within 3 months I can change for two pairs one for distance and one for reading.

Varifocals are SHIT. FUCK OFF

Mine are REALLY PISSING ME OFF. I am feeling wobbly and dizzy all the time so much so I gave in and out my old BINS on tonight. The two pair I have are going back next week to be replaced with a pair for distance and a pair for reading.

I'm an impatient sod so I've possibly not given them long enough but they are fucking me right off

No disability is as taken advantage of and exploited for profit like poor eyesight. It’s outrageous what people are charged just to have the privilege of being able to see.

Re: Varifocals
If they are going to work for you, they will need persistence for several weeks as a minimum. They still might not as different people seem to have very different experiences with them.

I find them great as I don't have to continually take glasses on and off (and then inevitably mislay them).

Work very well for me.

Try moving your head up when looking at anything far away and down when reading HTH

When I had my eyes tested 10 years ago, they were going to cost over £600 and have an array of different zones.
So I had my lenses replaced.
Cost 5x more than glasses, but I haven't worn glasses since. Had them done in Prague, so had a holiday as well.

Mine are fine.
Just takes a while to work out look up and out for distance, and look down for Close/Reading/Screen work.

I was struggling and told I had to wear them.

Heard all the stories about feeling pissed and sick.

Popped them on and was fine. Brilliant I have to say, never had any trouble with em and have a pair of sunglasses as well.

Only trouble is they ain't cheap...and I'm always Fuckin loosing them the cunts.

Keep at it till your mincers adjust.

Good luck

I've worn them for years. The thing you have to do is not look at your feet as you walk down the stairs. Apart from tgat they're fine for me.

Re: Varifocals
I’ve been using them since October and I think they work very well. There were different grades available and I went for the second highest. The difference is the amount of lens that is covered.

I tried them, couldn't get on with them at all.

I have Fuchs Dystrophy though.. I have to take mine off to read stuff. I then forget they're off and sit or lean on them. I broke a brand new pair walking to the ground.. Took them off to see the team news, dropped them while standing still. Both lenses cracked. The lenses were £330 cunts

I go with contact lenses for distance, and then a pair of glasses for reading or screen work.

Can't recall if I struggled or not with my first pair (ooooh-errr, missus!).

Got them in Indonesia back in 2003/4 where they were as cheap as chips.

Changed prescription roughly every 3-4 years since then. Last lot were the proverbial kick in the bollocks at over 300 sovs per lens and reusing old frames I had.

I've tried the contact lenses, wasn't that impressed. They are ok in bright. natural light but as soon as I got indoors I struggled to focus on my mobile/books etc.

Might have improved since then, it'll be interesting to hear how you get on...

Struggled with mine for about a week and then took them back and they changed them to previous prescription. Apparently you have to retrain your brain to use them, I guess my brain just wasn't up to it

Re: Varifocals
When it comes to reading you got to point your eyes down to the reading bit of lens without moving your head.

When going down steps point your eyes to the main part of the lens.

It about training your eyes without moving your head. The top of your glasses are the horizon.

It took me a while to get the hang of it but I'm pleased that I persisted now.

It's much better
